CapitaLand Investment Young Achievers Scholarship to nurture young talent launched as part of CapitaLand’s 25th anniversary
CapitaLand Group (CapitaLand) and Workforce Singapore (WSG) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen workforce capabilities to adapt to evolving economic and technological trends.
With an investment of up to S$7 million over three years, CapitaLand aims to enhance the competencies of its Singapore-based workforce in areas that will power its next phase of business growth, including in AI, digital innovation, and global market readiness. CapitaLand’s commitment to integrate workforce and enterprise transformation empowers its people and business to grow together. These efforts align with Singapore’s vision of building a future-ready, adaptable workforce that supports competitive businesses which WSG is committed to supporting.
The strategic partnership showcases how CapitaLand, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2025, scales its internal workforce transformation efforts, including the formation of an AI taskforce, innovation initiatives, and group-wide upskilling initiatives that will benefit and future-proof the organisation.
Accelerating Workforce Transformation through WSG’s Programmes and Initiatives
Under this partnership, CapitaLand will enhance internal transformation efforts by tapping on WSG’s suite of programmes and initiatives. CapitaLand will also promote and scale best practices to its ecosystem as an industry beacon driving the workforce transformation agenda. The partnership will cover three areas:
Developing an AI and future-ready workforce by leveraging WSG’s initiatives, such as the Career Conversion Programme (CCP), Support for Job Redesign under Productivity Solutions Grant (PSG-JR) and Overseas Market Immersion Programme (OMIP):
Enable job redesign and reskilling to build AI proficiency for CapitaLand employees in enhanced job roles aligned with AI-driven business models and scalable operations.
Promote international market exposure for employees to build a global-ready workforce and facilitate expansion into new markets.
Establish AI talent pipelines through work attachments and contributing to Institutes of Higher Learning curriculum to nurture young talent, along with facilitating mid-career transitions by establishing structured AI-transition pathways and offering AI mentorship and learning programmes.
Strengthen the career health of CapitaLand’s employees by training the trainers, equipping HR and line managers with career development capabilities, such as holding structured career conversations and adapting relevant resources to meet the diverse needs of different employee groups.
Promote workforce transformation beyond CapitaLand by sharing best practices, initiatives and expertise on AI, job redesign, employee career development and skills-first approach to its network. CapitaLand and WSG will also explore opportunities to collaborate on piloting and scaling broader workforce transformation based on learnings.
Ms Dilys Boey, Chief Executive of Workforce Singapore, said, “This partnership represents a significant step forward in enabling businesses to drive workforce development as an integral enabler of enterprise transformation. We are excited to join forces with CapitaLand to build a strong Singapore core ready to embrace AI-enabled innovation and business growth opportunities. Together, we can open new and sustainable career pathways for growth, create meaningful careers, and strengthen the career health of CapitaLand’s employees, preparing them for the opportunities of tomorrow.”
Ms Quah Ley Hoon, Group Chief Corporate Officer of CapitaLand Investment (CLI), said, “CLI is a leading global real asset manager with a target to double Funds Under Management (FUM) by 2028. We have been enhancing our talent pool with expertise in key areas to scale our business globally. Our AI transformation journey, with initiatives such as Cubby, an AI-powered travel buddy-cum-web chatbot, Casey, a ChatGPT-enabled digital assistant for CapitaLand malls in Singapore, and dynamic room pricing strategies in our lodging properties, has brought additional revenue while achieving productivity gains. Our collaboration with WSG will support the continuous development of our talent and catalyse their personal and professional growth through new and innovative training and coaching opportunities as well as greater exposure to global markets through overseas immersion programmes.”
Mr Tony Tan, Chief Corporate Officer of CapitaLand Development (CLD), said: "CLD has been investing in future-ready skills for our teams, particularly in AI, automation and data analytics, which are becoming core to real estate development. Such strategic partnerships with WSG are important as they enable us to scale our upskilling efforts and ensure our teams stay competitive in a fast-changing industry. Nurturing a resilient and adaptable workforce strengthens our long-term business growth in Singapore as well as our core markets."
CapitaLand’s Commitment to Nurturing Young Talent
To catalyse workforce transformation by leveraging AI, CapitaLand recently collaborated with student innovators from NTU, NUS, SIM, SMU, SUSS and SUTD for a Hackathon focused on the development of AI agents that will serve as core engines for growth and deliver measurable business outcomes. Led by business teams from CLD and CLI, the solutions focused on customer intelligence in the residential, retail and hospitality sectors; AI-based insights for revenue optimisation; and investment intelligence and data gathering.
CLI also launched the Young Achievers Scholarship programme to support students in realising their academic aspirations and equipping them with the skills and knowledge to achieve their goals. Outstanding international students will be given the opportunity to study in Singapore for four years, from Secondary Three to Junior College Year Two, leading to the Singapore-Cambridge GCE A-Level certificate, or its equivalent qualification. Scholarship recipients will be able to gain practical hands-on experience through internships, learning journeys and workshops.
